What does Consilience mean?
Consilience means the 'unity of knowledge' – the unification of knowledge between the different branches of learning. The word has its origins in the mid 19th century and is attributed to William Whewell, who also coined the term 'scientist'.
The word was relatively unknown until biologist Edward O Wilson published his book 'Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge' in 1998. Wilson's book aims to unite the sciences with the humanities, and he uses the term Consilience to describe the synthesis of knowledge from different fields of human understanding.
We have adopted the word Consilience as a reference to the fact that each member of the company brings a range of diverse, yet complementary skills. Therefore, as a whole, we are able to offer services including design, publishing, editing, web development, database management, photography, marketing and much else.
