Biffaward website
In early 2007 we were contracted to create the new Biffaward website. Biffaward is one of the most respected Landfill Communities Fund schemes, and has awarded more than £80 million to biodiversity and community projects in the UK since 1997.
A flexible Content Management System (CMS) approach was taken, allowing the Biffaward project to update content, including:
- Page content
- News items and press releases
- Project case studies
Bespoke Feature – Geographic Information System (GIS)
The site includes a bespoke tool used to perform geographic searches on postcodes. By entering a UK postcode, the tool calculates the distances to the nearest Biffa landfill sites, and those distances are used in determining grant eligibility.
Other Features
The main features the CMS offered were:
- RSS news feeds for all important items
- A full text search engine, indexing all pages, Acrobat files and MS Word documents
- Accessibility features visible on every page
- Simple graphical editing of all content
