'East End News and Views' magazine
'East End News and Views’ magazine was produced in 2005 as a pilot scheme in the East End of Newcastle upon Tyne for the Community Empowerment Fund. Residents living in the East End of Newcastle were invited to produce articles, comment, poetry and photography for inclusion in the magazine. Topics were centred around issues relating to life in the area, with the aim to give voice to groups not adequately represented by conventional media. The editorial board was made up of local community residents and workers, headed by local journalist Gerry Hunwick.
Consilience provided design and project management services to the editorial board, and in the summer of 2005 we handled the printing and distribution to over 12,000 homes. 'East End News and Views' is now 100% produced by residents of the East End of Newcastle upon Tyne.
